Sea Scout Ship 7730 will help you recycle your undecorated, natural Christmas tree into sand dunes that help protect our precious beaches or wildlife habitat at our wildlife rehabilitation centers!
Live Christmas trees are used along our beaches to help create and protect sand dunes. Sand dunes are vital on our beaches. They protect against storm surge and high waves, reducing coastal flooding and structural damage. Sand dunes also provide an important ecological habitat.
For a small donation, our Scouts will come pick up your discarded tree and take it to Fort Macon State Park or a local wildlife rehabilitation center.
We are offering to collect trees in Carteret County, Newport, Swansboro, and Hubert. Pickup days for 2025/26 are December 30th, January 4th and January 11th after 10 am. Signing up is easy! Just complete the Google form, choosing the day you would like your tree removed and your payment method.
